Design and Illustrate a book cover of your choosing. The cover needs to convey the spirit of the book as well as communicate the message by use of “One Main Letter".

Outcome

I drew on Art Deco design for inspiration for my book cover of the Great Gatsby. I chose to focus on the two strongest colour themes within the novel, reflecting the themes of envy, wealth and decay. The green light can be seen peering out from the middle of the F. I wanted the design to be elaborate, confusing and multidimensional, to reflect the complexity of the characters within the novel and the issues with society and class the novel highlights.
